Doll house furniture
Doll house furniture was first created in the western
style during the sixteenth century. This was done for what were then
known as "baby houses." These were cabinet displays of many
different rooms. Only wealthy adults maintained these little homes.
They were intricately detailed and luxurious.
The doll house furniture created for these homes was equally ornate.
Obviously, any additional accessories also had such value. At the time
of their origination, all these products were hand-crafted. It wasn't
until the Industrial Revolution that they were able to be produced en
masse.
Because the early doll house furniture was created in a custom way,
there were not standard scales for all their sizes. During the nineteenth
century, manufacturers were making many items at once. However, this
did not result in uniform sizes either. Rather, this standardization
arose during the end of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. At
first, it started within particular brands then it spread between them.
Today, it is quite possible to purchase twelfth scale items from a variety
of places.
